Windows 10 should work with existing hardware supported by qualifying OS versions, especially as MS are so keen for users to upgrade. I'm not interested in hearing that this is a "manufacturer problem" or that I should buy a new adapter.

I also tried installing (manually) the TP-link Windows 8.1 圆4 driver and it seemed to work but suffered from exactly the same problem as the default Realtak driver, so I have now rolled back to that. Windows recognised the device during the install and installed drivers for it (Realtek driver version 1027.4.630.2015) which it says are up to date and, allegedly, "the best driver". Occasionally it disappears completely and I have to unplug and re-insert the USB cable. Since upgrading (clean install) to Windows 10 Pro, the adapter keeps dropping the connection under load and (apparently) having to be reset. Just don't use the TP Link software.I have a Realtek RTL8192CU USB Wireless LAN Adapter (manufactured by TP-Link) which was working fine under Windows 7 SP1. This event also prevented my computer from restarting and I had to hold down the power button. When I tried the TP Link 'Utility' and used it to switch between networks, it crashed and all WiFi stopped working. The physical dimensions and basic specs are the same, but I'm left wondering whether V2 would've been better. The unit supplied is V1 hardware (2014), rather than V2 hardware (2018). I also have an old Bearifi Bear Extender, which has way better signal (18 dBm better than T2U) and much longer range, but this is not really a fair comparison as it is quite a bit larger. Range is improved by a few metres compared to the internal WiFi on my laptop - signal strength is good for its size, about 10 dBm stronger on both 2.4GHZ and 5GHz. This is a shame because it sticks out over 2cm from the side of my laptop, so I do want to remove it when not in use. It comes with a cap which does not attach at all while it is in use, so it will certainly get lost. The T2U USB WiFi adapter worked straight away when I plugged it into my Windows 10 laptop.
